Evoked Potentials Auditory (AEP), Visual (VEP), Upper (SEP)

These test evaluate the pathways of hearing (AEP), vision(VEP), and arms (SEP). The AEP stimulates the auditory nerves by using headphones and listening to a clicking noise. The VEP stimulates the optic nerves by using flashing checkerboard pattern screen on a monitor, one eye at a time. The upper SEP stimulates the median nerve by using a small electrical impulse repetitively at the wrist and recording the response with electrodes on scalp. Preparation: Absolutely no weaves, extensions, braids, oil, gel, hairspray, or leave-in conditioner in the hair. No alcohol consumption. Hair must be freshly washed and dried the day of the study.
