EMG--Electromyography/NCS Nerve conduction studies
These are test to evaluate the muscles and nerves of the arms and legs. A technologist performs the test for the NCS Small sticky electrodes are placed on the muscles being evaluated and an electrical stimulus is applied to the nerve that actives the muscle. (EMG) A small thin needle is inserted into the muscle being evaluated. The physician listens to the activity of the muscle to determine if the muscle is functioning properly.
Preparation: No oils, conditioners on arms, legs, hands or feet. Also, wear loose clothing around arms and legs, if you prefer not to change into a gown
